On a hot Wednesday night there was a record turn-out of GDHrs for the popular ROUND THE RESSERS race which was a counter in our Race/Trail Champs. This tough 5 mile run is held in conjunction with and a fund-raiser for, the Tintwistle Children’s Gala and this year attracted a record 290 runners. Steve Crossman was first home for the club, Julie Cox ran well to be 2nd L40 with both over 70% age-grading also. Andy Norman (Altrincham) was a clear winner, International mountain runner Sarah Tunstall (Kendal) smashed her own course record and there were several pbs from other harriers also despite the humid conditions.
Kirsty continuing great form. Nice to see Phil on the comeback trail.
Next up was the Midweek Champs counter FUN ON THE FELLS organised by Hayfield Primary School which was a variation on the May Queen route. This race was held on a gloriously sunny evening and 6 harriers turned up to support yet another race with a worthy cause. Mark O was first back for the club, Neil 1stMV40, John S 1stV55 and Nev 1stV60.
The last Club Champs race of the week was the KINDER TROG. On a very hot day times generally were noticeably slower than normal. 13 harriers completed the tough course with John Hewitt claiming the 30 points. He was well supported by Chris and Rich to secure the mens team prize for the club, a fantastic result. Kim Collison (Borrowdale) was the race winner with Jasmin (Carnethy) returning home to win the ladies race from Caity breaking Jackie Lee’s record in the process.
Well done Chris, Rich and Mr Chairman!
Nice to see John getting back to form
