Lots of races with Harriers everywhere this week and several new members out racing. A particular feature of the week was the performances of the Glossopdale teenagers which is very pleasing and augurs well for the future of the club!
On with the news…..
Chris Jackson lowered his personal best to 26.36 at TRUNCE 3
Great running by the harriers at the SHINING TOR fell race with Caity 1st female beating Olivia Walwyn and 4 runners in the top 30 of a quality field.
There was a fantastic turnout of 16 harriers at the popular HAYFIELD MAY QUEEN event where several new members were racing in their first fell race. This was the first race in the Hayfield 3 DAYS IN MAY weekend series. Congratulations to Caitlin, Tim and Ezme who collected prizes and well done to everyone on a great night for the club.
Tim, who was first GDH home from Mark O, and Darren also raced at the tough MOUNT FAMINE race.
Lins and Kasia had an amazing run clocking 11:07:17 at the OLD COUNTY TOPS race
Chris Jackson was 21st in 1.40.32 at the CADER IDRIS race. Special mention also for Claire Campbell who narrowly missed the cut-off time en route
Caity broke Jackie Lee’s record finishing 1st female at the LANTERN PIKE DASH race. Tim was once again first back for the harriers and was joint 2nd overall in the 3 race Hayfield Series. Nice to see Ezme winning her second prize in the series also and new member Darren completing all 3 races. Winner Simon Bailey also broke Lloyd Taggart’s record by 1 second.

With Manor Park unavailable this week, several harriers took the opportunity for a spot of parkrun tourism and achieved some great results. David Chrystie-Lowe achieved an all-time parkrun PB of 20.39 at Stretford, daughter Rosa finished 2nd lady at Oxford and Paul Drury became the first harriers to run at Chadderton Hall. Run of the week was by Steve Crossman who was 1st at Marple hotly pursued by Sam Gregory, who along with other youngsters Paul Peters and Jonathan Whitehead achieved personal best times, all showing great promise for the future. PBs at also for Kirsty who was also 1st lady and Matt C, 12 runners all together in Brabyns. Well done everyone!
